Day 217, Morning

Today’s morning meditation is available below in audio and script formats. The audio version is also available for free download on the player.

Reading

God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them.

—Genesis 1 (OT)

Quiet

As your day begins, spend a few moments in silence and stillness.

Dwelling

Be reminded that you are in God’s presence and read again. Notice how God might be speaking to you through the words. Dwell on a word or phrase that jumps out at you, and let your heart respond to God in silent prayer.

Prayer

God of love and laughter, did you take delight in giraffes or chuckle over puffer fish? And who conceived of noses? You gave every creature its being, form, and appearance. As each creature and organism speaks of your extravagant life and serves your purposes, inspire me to care for them on your behalf. Amen. (BC)
