Day 236, Evening

Today’s evening meditation is available below in audio and script formats. The audio version is also available for free download on the player.

Reading

Then Joseph said to his brothers, “Come close to me.” When they had done so, he said, “I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into slavery. And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you. For two years now there has been famine in the land, and for the next five years there will be no plowing and reaping. But God sent me ahead of you to save your lives.”

—Genesis 45 (OT)

Quiet

As your day draws to a close, spend a few moments in silence and stillness remembering all that you have learned in hindsight.

Prayer

Debt-canceling God, my capacity to forgive others is a measure of how well I know you. Remind me every day that both I and those who have hurt me together form a community of debtors to your grace. May my determination to forgive display how deep the gospel lives in me. Amen. (HC)
